Agency Appointments with Mutual Benefit Group

The appointment of high-quality professional, independent agents is vital to Mutual Benefit Group (MBG). Our objective is to attract agencies in our territory of Pennsylvania and Maryland that have a demonstrated record of growth, retention, and profitability.

Prospective agencies are evaluated in five key areas:

  • Management
  • Growth potential
  • Profit potential
  • Financial stability
  • Potential for strong agency-company relationship

Additionally, we review available information to determine a potential fit with MBG’s Ideal Agent Profile:

Ideal Agent Profile

  • Agency has a proactive approach to sales (lead generation, referral network, building cross sales campaigns, etc.)
  • Marketing territory corresponds with MBG’s territory
  • Agency shows positive growth annually over the past three years
  • Agency is financially sound
  • Maintains adequate E&O coverage
  • Has a written perpetuation plan
  • Has been in existence for a minimum of five years, or principals have been with other agencies for a minimum of five years
  • Utilizes an automated management system
  • Demonstrates a profitable track record with lead carriers with better-than-average loss ratios
  • Minimum agency size is $2 million in written premium
  • Is a “relationship agency” that values its relationship with a carrier and commits to production and quality objectives
