Maintenance Technician

JOB SUMMARY

The maintenance technician, under general supervision, performs a wide variety of custodial and building and maintenance repair duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment.

SPECIFIC Duties include:
  • Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems
  • Assists with inspection and analysis of HVAC systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending solutions
  • Performs carpentry repairs
  • Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Performs exterior facility maintenance
  • Maintains building security
  • Responds to emergency alarm calls
  • Performs interior facility maintenance as needed
  • Maintains a safe work environment
  • Delivers office supplies to departments as needed
  • Assists with unloading, carrying or lifting supplies, deliveries, etc. as needed
    Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:

Education Requirements:

  • Applicants must possess a general equivalency or high school diploma; associate degree preferred

Skills / Competencies:

  • Minimum of two years' HVAC experience working with HVAC equipment
  • Minimum of two years' experience in maintenance and painting, preferably at a contractor level of familiarity OR experience in various technical trades
  • Sound understanding of using all types of repair tools
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills
  • Interpersonal relations and communications skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to correctly and safely lift, hold, carry, and push objects weighting 80 - 100 pounds
  • Active driver's license with clear driving record
  • Ability to work on scaffolding and ladders
  • Basic proficiency with electricity and plumbing
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools related to maintenance technician position
  • Preferred candidate will have the ability to respond to alarm calls within 15 minutes and the ability to work all shifts.
