Jodie C. Bishop, AINS, AU, has been named Commercial Lines Underwriting Team Lead for Mutual Benefit Group.
In this role, Bishop will provide the day-to-day leadership and supervision of an assigned underwriting team. She will coach, lead and oversee a team of underwriters while continuing to carry out her respective duties as a “working” team member. Jodie will be responsible for the profitability, growth and retention of her own individual agency book as well as the team’s cumulative book of business.
Since joining Mutual Benefit in June 1994, Bishop has concentrated her career in the Commercial Lines Department. Hired as a Commercial Lines Rater, her acumen in calculating premiums proved valuable several years later when she assisted with the development of the Commercial Lines Internet Rating system (CLIR). During this time, she was promoted to Senior Commercial Lines Rater, a position she held until her move to Commercial Lines Underwriter in 2003. She transitioned into the role of Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter in April 2008 before being promoted to Commercial Lines Senior Production Underwriter in 2022.
Bishop holds the Insurance Institute of America’s Certificate in General Insurance (AINS) as well as the Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designation. She has also completed IIA’s Introduction to Property and Liability Insurance and Writing at Work courses.
A native of Huntingdon County, she resides near Petersburg with her husband, Dale, an auto technician. Sports and camping are favorite pastimes of the Bishop family. They also enjoy making memories with their children and grandchildren. Her favorite hobby is gardening.
