Nitai Patel Promoted to Actuary

Nitai Patel was promoted to Actuary on April 22, 2024.

In this position, Nitai is primarily accountable for developing assessments to monitor profitability for every line of business and state in the portfolio.  This includes extracting and analyzing data, developing reports and tools to support analyses, evaluating results for reasonability, and communicating observations and recommendations to various business stakeholders to help achieve bottom-line goals.  Other duties may include monitoring key performance indicators, comparing actual results to expected impacts of product changes, and identifying trends to assist in identification and prioritization of product reviews and research agendas.

Prior to joining MBG, Nitai worked at Travelers, where he was a member of the Actuarial Leadership Development Program. He worked in the actuarial pricing role for Commercial Umbrella and General Liability for 6 months and the Commercial Auto Line Management team for 1.5 years. In August 2022, Nitai accepted a position as Assistant Actuary in Mutual Benefit’s Insurance Analytics Department. 

A graduate of Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Actuarial Science, Nitai went on to earn the Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation. 

Nitai is a member of the Candidate Advocate Working Group (CAWG), which is a volunteer group within the Casualty Actuarial Society. As part of the CAWG, he works as a liaison between CAS candidates and CAS leadership by sharing thoughts and feedback from the candidates' experiences and helping relay important updates and information from the CAS to the candidates. He has also written multiple articles for the CAWG about actuarial organizations focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nitai loves spending time with his wife, Akshata. Akshata also works as an actuary, and she is currently at Cigna in the Actuarial Executive Development Program. They met at Temple University and were both officers of the actuarial student organization, Gamma Iota Sigma. In his free time, he likes to go to the gym, travel, try different cuisines, watch/play basketball and watch TV shows. His favorite TV show is The Office.
